The code is at least partial in the game.
Take the Luxon and Kurzick PvE skills, jade/amber and scrolls. You can obtain those without donating to any alliance. You lose faction, get the skill/stuff and points for title. I think that is the base mechanic needed.

Now my suggestion is that you cannot gain full points for this.
Let's say you get 1.5 donation instead of 2. Better than scrolls or amber/jade, but still not as much as you could get for being in alliance.

I like the better opposition as well, once in a while you get a good skirmish out of it which makes up for having a few boring matches in between. Unlike late TA or the current codex. But the long waiting time as kurzick really dampens the experience.

I'm getting my posts deleted left and right and accumulating infraction posts for "not contributing", so to add something of real value to this thread let me say this:

You guys MUST go see Avatar in 3d. The story is absolutely frog but the effects and the feeling of going to another world is well worth it. It also comes with a not-so-well-hidden criticism of americans which really works for me.

I saw Avatar on release day, amazing graphics, but the story was utter tripe.

I don't know if you were around for grenz a few hours ago but kurz literally deserted their outpost so a bunch of organised (good) luxon teams just switched over so we could actually start a match. We rickrolled Lux 2 games in a row, after which the Lux outpost was completely deserted and the kurzick outpost was flooded, many of which were the people we had just beaten.

No matter what you do you just can't win with these people, they always follow the winning teams.

The discussion on ab being pvp or not is a realy old one. I think it is a matter of how you play it.
If a team is walking around in circles avoiding / running from any enemy fights, it would not call it pvp.
If one is charging shrines again and again with death the only result, that's not pvp.

The occasional 4vs4, of course it's pvp!
Putting a roadblock with your team to stop a mob (to beat them or to stall them long enough for allies get an advantage from it), that's pvp.

Last times i saw allies in match, there were no sync. That happens, it's an AB alliance, guess what people do there a lot?

Playing as a kurzick is really frustrating - you hold 2 enemy teams for 5 minutes and then look at the score and the luxon still have 5 flags because the 2 other teams are getting stomped by a minion master that is inside the fortress...

You get in the map and people don't stay with their team, they don't try to find their team, they keep saying "cap, cap".

When will kurzick ppl understand you cap, then kill the enemy, then cap their shrine...

Frustrating.

I don't mind losing if my team of 4 is getting owned, but losing when we are owning or going toe to toe with other teams of 4, meh...

We meet all kinds of illustrious pvp guilds in AB. Often they yell in local chat that ab isn't a big deal, they mostly do that when we cream them. Usually those teams run good balanced builds. If people rolled 4 smiters and said AB isn't a big deal I would believe them, but when they're failing hard with balanced I just lol.

Sometimes AB really isn't a big deal tho, when you go into the fort for shiggles and kill 2 teams with 4 people then you know there's something wrong with your opponents. But in the end it really doesn't matter what format you play, the more tense the fight gets the less people want to lose that fight.

I would not put it that strong.
Suppose I am in a guild that has a lot of experience in TA and we switched to AB after TA was removed from the game, because we don't have enough players to form GvG or HA teams. We are on vent and know each other very well.

The opposing teams we encounter are allies who team up with each other sometimes, but lack the synergy that an experienced team has.
Don't have much battlefield awareness yet.
And they are not on vent/ts, so coordination is much harder.
In TA those teams would not have stand a chance against a more experienced team....

Now we take this one step further down. For many players AB is about capping. This was true for a long time. So people bring builds designed to kill off some NPC's fast, not to fight balanced human teams. This makes them even weaker.

Is there something wrong with those players?
I don't know, people are somewhere on a learning curve, some further than others. It's only those players who keep failing again and again in the same teams where something is really wrong I'd say. Can't blame random teams and inexperienced guild/alliance teams for losing against strong organized opponents...

Worse when your team's going toe to toe with two other teams, actually successfully stalling them or even winning, and your allies fail so hard that they're getting repeatedly stomped by the last one remaining.

This. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone starts out somewhere, but if you willingly stay ignorant then yeah, there's something wrong. Coordination is harder without Vent/TS, yes, but not impossible - unless the person's unwilling to listen, in which case no matter how many times you shout STAND IN RANGE OF THE SHRINE ALREADY you won't see a change.

The Kurzicks are so bad at AB it hurts...we can't even win Ancestral. It's basically a couple Luxon guilds farming the same people over and over.
